Iowa All State Honor Choir
Every year, 9th-12th graders from across the state of Iowa are able to audition for the annual Iowa All State Honor Choir. In early August, students are given the repertoire for the Iowa All State Honor Choir performance and must learn the music in preparation for auditions in late October. On audition day, students must perform select cuts from the repertoire in a quartet, trio, duet, or solo without accompaniment anonymously in front of a judge. From those auditions, select students are accepted into the 600 member Iowa All State Honor Choir. Being accepted into the Iowa All State Honor Choir is a huge accomplishment, however the process of learning the music and preparing for the audition is what truly improves a high schooler as a musician and person. 9th Graders are able to audition for both the Iowa OPUS Honor Choirs and Iowa All State Honor Choirs.
